The process of planning your kitchen design can be very stressful. With so many things to think about and decisions to make, it’s easy to lose your way and end up with something that falls short of your expectations. A new kitchen is a big investment in time and money so it’s only normal to want something that’s perfect. If you’re considering enhancing your home with a new kitchen, here are some tips to help you plan:

The “working triangle”
This is a term used by many kitchen designers and means the following three things – cooking, food, preparation and cleaning (i.e. – sink area). Whether you’re a would-be a chef or a ready-meal fan, your kitchen needs to be functional, convenient and user-friendly. When planning your kitchen, you need to think about where you want your commercial dishwasher and the practicalities of how you will actually use the room.

Styling
Kitchen cabinets are the main design people see and is the most important part to achieving the look you want. If you kitchen is open plan then you need to think about the styling of the other room and how your kitchen can best suit this. If your kitchen is a separate room you have the opportunity to be a lot more adventurous.

Lighting
Lighting has a big impact on your kitchen and depending on what you choose will completely change the look and feel. If contemporary is your thing then try and funk up your light add recessed spot lights and under counter lights. If you have a kitchen that leans more towards the traditional side then choosing something more ornate might be better.

Colour
It’s important to think about what colour the surrounding walls and floor is going to be to make sure it all fits the look you want.
